Here is a location came across by Nick and Tayo, they thought this location reflects the mise en scene of the narrative very well. The narrative itself shows many different emotions such as love, heartbreak, sadness and depression. Nick and tayo felt an abandoned house woulod reflect the band shot well.
Nick and Tayo found the house by asking local people about the whereabouts of the location. The house was owned by the dad of someone they knew. The house is located on West Street in Barnhurst. Here are a few examples of what the location looks like:
Charlie (lead singer of the band)
This is the exact posistioning of the camera for many of the shots in the music video.
This is an image of the main room that the band shots are filmed in, as you can see it looks very derelict .
As you can see the surronding area is destroyed and grotty.

Style Sheet
Here is some typography that is typically used for bands found by Nick:
The list of band names that were playing at Reading Festival. This is a festival where 'Indie' music is popular so this helps in terms of research. The font used for 'Muse' is a sans serif font in bold also there is also a bold line above and below the band name. This helps for the band name to stand out from all the other band names. This font style is iconic to the band as it is used on all their albums , magazine advertisements, badges and clothing.
From this research our group have managed to list some different font styles that will be a usedthroughout the ancillary tasks and promtional package. Here are the font styles:
You La Tengo Font
Getting Up Font
PKco Font - Preferred Font style
The font style preferred by the target audience and by the group was the 'PKco Font'. This font style is going to be the fixed font that will be used throughout the ancillary task and with the media products etc.

Progression of Task
The group started filming on the 30th November. Before we began filming we talked about the locations we were going would be filming in. Me and Antalia looked at the school stage as a possible location for a band shot, this way we could portray the band as if they were playing a concert or performing. However after feedback from Mr Palmer we decided not to as it would look too much like it had been filmed in school. Following this constructive critisim we decided to change the location to somewhere that reflected the mise-en-scene better.
Here are a list of locations that we were going to use:
The problems we faced when filming:
Here are a list of locations that we were going to use:
- A recording studio
- A woods
- An estate
The problems we faced when filming:
- Lack of space to set up and use the tracking system.
- The difficulty of making the camera look as if it is passing through the wall.

Music Video Progression and Filming Schedule
The group has had another meeting, during this meeting we talked about the recording of our music video. In the meeting we also had a chance to sort out the cast of our music video.
For our narrative we have decided to go with these people:
Band members:
In order to choose our cast we had to look at people who fit the 'Indie' genre for example by the way they dress (e.g. skinny jeans, boots) as we wanted it to look a convincing as possible , also it would appeal to our target audience. We also took into consideration people who had natural chemistry, this was again as we wanted it to look as convincing and natural as possible, also it would avoid disgreements and arguements during filming. The reason for choosing the Band members was because they also dress in the iconic fashion of the genre (e.g. skinny jeans) as well as being able to play instruments, this was an important feature as we want to capture a natural mime allowing the instruments to sync well with the music.
Although we have made this decision for our cast members this may change over the course of filming.
The group will begin location scouting on the 14th November, Hopefully filming should begin the music video on the 21st. The first shots that we film will be band shots, these should be taken in the recording studio or the school stage. We will then move onto exterior narrative shot for the narrative and then last of all interior shots again narrative. The reason for this is we will get the easier shots first.
For our narrative we have decided to go with these people:
- Main character of narrative: Charlie Morgan
- Love interest of the main character : Louise Salter
- Other boy/ rival of the main character in narrative: Charlie Hayford
Band members:
- Lead Singer of Band: Charlie Morgan
- Gutarist or Drummer of band: Paul Healey
- Gutarist or Drummer of band: Nicholas Bereen

Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by you know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
Fish in the sea you know how I feel
River running free you know how I feel
blossom in the trees you know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me
Stars when you shine you know how I feel
Scent of the pine you know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And you know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Chosen Song
Good news guys Dynamic Production have made some major achievements in the last couple of days. Firstly the group have finally chosen a song the song being 'Muse- Feeling Good'. Although 'Glory- Ryan Leslie' was a good song, using the song 'Feelin Good' sets out a clear narrative for our music video. The song 'Feelin Good' is a classic from the 1965 musical ' The Roar of Greasepaint- The Smell of A Crowd'. The song has been covered many time by artist including Sammy Davis Jr, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra Jr and of course Muse.
By picking this song the group can begin to look at conventions of the indie/rock genre. Conventions such as the music video, mise-en-scene and the promotional items.
Here is our other song choice 'Glory' by Ryan Leslie

First Meeting :)
So we've thought of a name for our group which is Dynamic Productions, and we had our first meeting on the 6th October. Firstly we thought of ideas for the song we would use for our music video. The two main songs we thought of were 'Feeling Good - Muse' and 'Glory - Ryan Leslie'. The two songs are very contrasting as one song 'Feeling Good' is by a band and 'Glory' is by a solo artist they are also different genres of music as one is indie and the other is R'n'B . With these two songs we will be able to see how the conventions of music videos work and how the conventions of a promotional package are put together.
During the meeting we decided the 'relationships' will be the main theme of our music video , we also looked at sub categories such as break-ups and depression that could help us with our narrative to our music video. We decided that we could use mood boards in our pitch to help us explain our ideas. Our pitch has to be presented on the 15th of October so we still have a bit to do but we're making progress :)

Hello
Today I've started my blog for the ongoing task of creating a music video for a particular song. For this task I have been put into a group of four. The group includes: - Me (Kike Kolade) Antalia Terblanche, Tayo Adeboye and Nicolas Berren. On top of this we are going to create a promotional pack consisting of a variety of 'conventional' ,products including a CD cover.
We have until 16th of March to complete the task, so during this time managment and planning is crucial. At the moment we need to decide what song and artist we're going to choose for the upcoming task. After this decision we will research generic conventions of music videos and products by looking at, mise en scene, narrative and so on.
So keep watching this space
